Record, review and export trips
Record a trip manually
- Open Activity → Add → Start trip.
- Choose the vehicle and confirm the start. Allow the requested location access if you want Litro to record the route.
- Use the active trip controls in Activity to pause, resume or end recording.
- After it finishes, open the saved trip to check its vehicle and classification.
Manual recording is available separately from automatic recording. Starting a trip requires usable location access. Cancelling a start does not create a trip.
Set up automatic recording
Open Settings → Automatic trip recording. Follow the setup actions shown for your phone, then explicitly turn recording on. A ready permission checklist is not the same as enabled recording.
On Android, the feature can need background location, physical activity, nearby device access for vehicle connections, and suitable battery/background settings. Use the in-app checks to see which are required on your phone. Android also offers supported pause/schedule controls. On iPhone, follow Location and Motion & Fitness setup, including background access when requested; notification permission is separate. Android scheduling controls may not be available on iOS.
Litro verifies movement before keeping an automatic trip. Bluetooth connection alone is not a trip. Detection can be delayed or interrupted by phone settings, signal quality or operating-system background limits. Turning automatic recording off prevents new automatic starts; a trip already running may finish.
Understand the vehicle choice
A vehicle linked to the car's Bluetooth device can provide identity evidence during a trip. Pairing the phone with a car in Android alone is not the same as linking that connection to the correct vehicle profile in Litro. Check the vehicle connection in My vehicles or automatic-trip settings.
Motion detection can recognize driving without knowing which vehicle you used. A suggested vehicle needs checking; it is different from your confirmed choice. A currently connected car does not establish which car was used for an older trip.
To correct a trip, open it in Activity, choose Vehicle used, select the right profile and confirm where requested. Check the resulting label. A vehicle correction also applies to associated parking when the records are linked. See troubleshooting if the app's connection label is unclear.
Review a saved trip
Open the trip in Activity. Check its vehicle, start/end, distance and recording details. Choose Personal, Business or Commute as appropriate, add a purpose or note if useful, and save the review. Use exclusion for a record that should not count as an included driving trip; review the explanation before confirming.
The name, endpoint and time editors are available from trip details where supported. Time corrections must stay within the permitted recorded interval and avoid overlapping records. Associating Home, Work or another saved place labels an endpoint; it does not recreate missing route readings.
Charts describe recorded observations. Missing readings, unavailable speeds and estimated values should not be treated as precise measurements. GPS accuracy and route completeness are different: accurate points can still have gaps between them. Older gaps cannot be recovered just by renaming or reviewing a trip.
Continue after a short stop
Litro automatically groups compatible drives after stops of up to 30 minutes, including detection without Bluetooth. Recording settings offer 15, 30 or 60 minutes, or separate drives. A delayed recording start can still belong to the same journey when the captured locations are close enough. Vehicle and category choices must agree. Home ends journeys by default; other saved places can be selected as endpoints. Overnight drives stay separate.
Each driving leg is saved immediately. The quiet completion notification waits until the stop window closes and stays pending if recording resumes. Stops appear as estimated timing and location in journey details, without separate parking entries or actions. Only destination parking remains a parking activity. Confirm the displayed vehicle once for the whole journey when reviewing it.
For eligible stops beyond the selected window, Activity can offer Combine with previous trip. Continue after stop allows up to 60 minutes. You can also open the combine action in trip details for a longer stop. Inspect the vehicles, categories and totals before confirming. Correct conflicting vehicles or categories first. A journey can contain up to 20 non-overlapping legs.
The grouped entry shows stops. Its detail separates driving time, time between legs and elapsed time. Routes remain separate; missing readings are never joined by an invented driving segment. Use Split at this stop or Undo combine to recover separate records. Review applies to the entire grouped journey.
End trip or a confirmed-and-saved review closes automatic continuation for every category. Automatic category suggestions do not count as confirmation. Grouping preserves captured distances and original leg IDs. CSV exports retain the individual driving legs; portable JSON and the safety copy retain grouping.
Export trips
- Open Activity → Trips → Export.
- Choose Week, Month, Year or Custom. Check the displayed start and end dates and the number of driving legs before sharing.
- Open Advanced options to choose vehicle, classification, excluded trips or only trips needing review.
- Leave Include start and end places off unless you want those places in the file, then choose Share CSV and the destination yourself.
Trip CSV excludes route coordinates. It is a readable report, not a complete restorable backup. Use portable JSON for supported local records and preferences. Review the export before giving it to anyone else.
